Developing AI that helps people, not replace them.

Artificial Intelligence and machine learning are terms that can many things, but they should all help make a world a better place. They should improve peoples life, whether that be safety, efficiency, innovation, or eliminating mundane tasks to make more time for the important parts of life. I work to develop solutions using a variety of domains to develop ethical artificial intelligence.

About Me

I work in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science with a specialization in computer vision. I’ve worked on synthetic dataset generation using physically based rendering for improving object detection and accuracy. I particularly interested in field of 3D model generation, whether it be Gaussian splatting, photogrammetry, or AI methods.  It overlaps well with my hobbies of 3D modeling in Blender, videography, and photography and has the potential to greatly increase the safety of autonomous vehicles and other computer vision systems in combination with synthetic dataset generation. I have experience deploying AI on cloud platforms for production, developing agentic LLMs, and leading development teams. I have a bachelor’s in Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Business Administration and migrated into the machine learning field. More than anything I just enjoy learning, exploring, analyzing, and creating!

AI 3D Reconstruction

Converting a single image to a 3D model with textures and post processing into a high quality, game engine ready asset.  Currently working on implementing the generation of realistic additional PBR texture maps such as displacement, metalness/specular, and roughness maps.  Additional manual texturing, sculpting, and touch-up result in the highest quality models.

Research

Microgrid control

Developing deep neural networks as a method for control system solutions.  Applying to microgrid power management problems.

Titan Aerogravity Assist

Conducting Mission Analysis of a mission to Enceladus using a Titan Aerogravity Assist. Working on automating the mission iteration process.

Autonomous Car Simulator

Worked on environment development in Unreal Engine and Blender for VR autonomous car simulator used in human factors studies.

Computer Vision - Synthetic Datasets

This is currently my favorite pet project.  Machine Learning algorithms are data-hungry when it comes to training.  Datasets are expensive, take time to develop, and have inherent biases in them that affect the final decisions of artificial intelligence systems.  Using photorealistic CGI, we can create comprehensive datasets and ground truths with nothing more than computation power.

This process makes these systems safer, more accurate, and more robust.

Leadership - Extracurriculars

NASA RASC-AL Ice Mining Challenge

hatcher_NASA_RASCAL_background_removed

Helped lead a team of 20 students to develop a robot that mines simulated Martian regolith and harvests ice to obtain usable water.  Our final design placed 4th nationally.

Helped the team obtain additional funding through NASA Space Grant and received a NASA Space Grant scholarship.
